Panama City Beach Fishing... I have always loved fishing since I was very young and I would get to go with my parents and grandparents whenever they went.

My granddad always told me that fishing will teach a person to have patience, because the fish do not just come and jump on your hook; you have to try and trick them.

At the time I did not understand what he was teaching me, however, as I got older I have learned that he was right. Now that I have grown and have a family of my own I like to take them to one of the best fishing spots I have ever seen; Panama City Beach Fl.

Panama City Beach Fishing sponsors over ten fishing tournaments every year, some for Large Mouth Lunkers, and some for salt water fish. The 12 of August begins the Panama City Beach fishing new 5 day tournament called "The Grand Lagoon National Saltwater Fishing Tournament" where you will see more than many boats on the water.

Everyone entered in the tournament will be competing for one million dollars. There are 8 different categories that you could sign up for. Some people will compete for the largest Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Sailfish, Swordfish, and the largest Tuna.

One of the 8 categories will fish for Amberjack, Wahoo, Red Snapper, Grouper, and Dolphin (not the Porpoise), in the Offshore category. The inshore category will fish for Red Snapper, Amberjack, Grouper, and the King Mackerel.

There is also a Junior Anglers category and a Dive category for the people that like to catch fish underwater. If you do not have a boat of your own you can always rent one at the marina.

You will enjoy the 70 degrees, year round temperature, however, you should always take along a lined jacket, your sunglasses, some bug spray, and some sun block, and do not forget to pack refreshments and snacks.

The mornings and evening may get a little chilly, but it soon turns to warmer temperatures as the sun gets higher in the sky. The birds are everywhere around the waterways, you will enjoy watching the seagulls, egrets, pelicans, and herons as you fish.

Many dolphins have been sighted in the Gulf while people have been fishing.

Some get pretty close to the fishing boats, and can get tangled into the fishing lines.

So you understand now why I say that Panama City Beach Florida Fishing is some of the best fishing in the United States.

It is not just the fishing either, they have great lodging in the area, as well as great dining.

Bay Point Billfish Tournament

Considered by locals to be the biggest party in Bay County, the weekend's events include the Miss Billfish contest, an extravagant fireworks show, and fishing contest with weigh-in events, food and live entertainment. The parking fee is donated to local charities. Mid-July, Free Admission. Website

It is truly the best vacation spot ever, even if you are not fishing.
